Have Republicans been jealous/envious of Democrats as of late?

not really jealous or envious. the republican party learned how far off the mark they were in the 2008 elections. the republican party does not reach out to blacks, hispanics, immigrants, the gay community or really anyone. they are locked in their conservative bubble. they are desperately seeking a way to say we're not a bunch of old white men, but so far their attempts at using minority front men and women have failed.
