I have a 1998 ford F-150 with 105,000 miles. The overdrive light on my gear shift is flashing?

the transmission will shift into and out of overdrive utilizing the on on the shifter, but the light flashes all of the time. I ume it is a warning of some sort but my owners manual doesn't say what it is! Any knowledge of this, gearheads?
